Get on the Bridge: A Day of Action for the 99%

SEIU Local 500 members and other union members will be marching on the Key Bridge in Georgetown on Thursday, November 17 at 4pm. We will be marching on the bridge’s pedestrian walkways so as not to block traffic.

We will be joining with other unions to demand that Congress take action to create jobs and invest in our nation’s infrastructure – from repairing bridges to funding our schools.

A report by the non-profit organization, Transportation for America, found that the Key Bridge was one of 215 bridges in the Washington, DC metro area that need substantial repairs or even replacement.

But obstructionists in Congress refuse to create jobs by investing in public workers and infrastructure and refuse to make the richest 1% pay a little more in taxes.

Enough is enough.

Investing in our schools, in public employees, and in repairing bridges that millions of cars drive across each year will not only reduce unemployment, it will make our children, communities, and our country stronger.

Please join us on the Key Bridge at 4 pm on Thursday, November 17 to let Congress know that they cannot ignore the 99% who have been hurt the most by this economy any longer.

This is a national day of action, with similar events taking place across the country.
