SEIU Local 500 Members and New Faculty Majority Meet with Congressional Offices on Issues Affecting Contingent Faculty

Local 500 Vice President for Higher Education, Kip Lornell and Local 500 members Esther Merves (who also serves as Research Director of New Faculty Majority) and Terilee Edwards-Hewitt on Capitol Hill last Friday, January 24th. They briefed congressional staff on issues affecting contingent faculty. Following a panel presentation, SEIU members participated in a discussion on the contingent faculty crisis, and how to improving the quality and integrity of higher education for students, faculty and the nation. They were also joined by New Faculty Majority President Maria Maisto and Loyola Marymount University adjunct and union activist, Arik Greenberg.
