Andrew Platt won his primary for District 17 Delegate – thanks to a lot of help from Local 500!

Anthony Brown and Ken Ulman won their primary for Governor and Lieutenant Governor!

Brian Frosh, the Local 500 endorsed candidate from attorney general, won his primary after polls showed him trailing the entire campaign!

Cheryl Kagan has a ten point lead over her nearest opponent in the race District 17 Senate!

Tom Hucker has a strong lead in the race for the Montgomery County Council, District 5!

Shebra Evans will be advancing to the general election for a seat on the Montgomery County School Board!

These are just a handful of the most contested races from yesterday’s primary elections and they all share two things in common – the pro-worker candidate finished on top and SEIU Local 500 and our allies made the difference!

Dozens more pro-workers candidates won with the help and support of Local 500 activists, covering dozens of polling places across the region on election day and going door to door in the weeks leading up to it. Old friends like Senator Roger Manno and County Councilmembers Nancy Navarro and Craig Rice, and new faces like David Moon and Marice Morales who won their primaries for Delegate in Districts 20 and 19.

For many of these candidates, it was their first time seeing the commitment and dedication of Local 500 members and it is not something any of them are likely to forget!
