Lisa Bligen, a special education paraeducator at Argyle Middle School, was chosen as Supporting Services Employee of the Year for her tireless commitment to education.
Her colleagues and her principal singled her out for the enthusiasm she shows as an active educator in all the classrooms she supports as a paraeducator. When Argyl Middle School embarked on a multi-year journey to improve student outcomes, she took the lead, working with other employees and stakeholders and formulating plans to maker her school stronger and better than ever. Beyond her school, she is an active staff member at the George B. Thomas Learning Academy and was the lead writer for the new Middle School Language Arts Curriculum.
She exemplifies the commitment of SEIU Local 500 members to making world class education a reality for the more than 150,000 students who are part of MCPS.
