Over a hundred SEIU Local 500 members were joined by their brothers and sisters from SEIU Local 1199 and members of Maryland Working Families for a gubernatorial forum. Candidates from both parties were invited and the forum featured for NAACP President, Ben Jealous, State Senator Rich Madaleno, Prince George’s County Executive, Rushern Baker and Baltimore County Executive, Kevin Kamenetz.
They made their pitch to the members and then answered questions submitted by Local 500 members. The questions ranged from broad queries about the environment and climate change, to sometimes tricky questions about whether their children attended private or public school and how they viewed the role of the lieutenant governor.
Each candidate left the event, impressed by the enthusiasm and turnout, as well as by tough questions they faced.
