Prince George’s County In-Home Child Care Providers Honored

Nearly 200 Prince George’s County residents including family child care providers and the kids they care for along with their parents came out on July 1 for a day of fun and recognition for Maryland family child care.  Community and labor supporters were also on hand, including Elbridge James, Legislative Advocate of the Maryland NAACP.

SEIU Recommends Nancy Navarro for County Council, District 4 Special Election

On Tuesday, SEIU Local 500's Committee on Political Education (COPE) interviewed candidates for the Special Election and made a recommendation to support Nancy Navarro for County Council, District 4. The Executive Board confirmed their decision. Of the recommendation, Local 500 President Merle Cuttitta said, "Nancy Navarro will be a champion for working families on the County Council. She is a proven leader who we are proud to support."

GW Faculty: Tentative Contract Reached!

Agreement Made on 1st Contract for Part-Time Faculty

Achieved after a long organizing, legal and negotiating struggle, the tentative pact includes salary increases, job security, benefit improvements, an open and transparent evaluation process, faculty rights and other measures.
