SEIU Local 500 members have been advocating to eliminate the waiting list for children and families seeking to enroll on the Maryland Childcare Subsidy program. Since March 2011, there has been an enrollment freeze and educators are warning that Maryland will suffer in the long run if access to early childhood education, like that offered by Local 500 childcare providers, is not expanded.
