SEIU Local 500 represents men and women who work for the public good in five areas:

Early Learning
Local 500 represents roughly 6,000 family child care providers across the state of Maryland. Our members also include early educators at Head Start centers in Maryland and Washington, DC

K – 12 Education & Support
Local 500 represents 8,500 supporting service employees within the Montgomery County Public School System, including paraeducators, bus operators, and food service, maintenance, technology, and administrative staff.

Coalition of Academic Labor (CAL) – Higher Education
Local 500 represents roughly 2,400 part-time faculty members at The George Washington University in Washington, DC and Montgomery College in Maryland.

Community/Developmental Disabilities Services
Local 500 represents direct care staff who education and care for persons with developmental disabilities at schools, and residential and other facilities in Montgomery County, MD and Washington, DC.

Nonprofit Organizations
Local 500 represents staff of the following advocacy groups: Oxfam America, Public Citizen and United States Students Association.
