MCPS Chapter Accouncements - 5/7/2009
Find out what's happening in your chapter, including upcoming chapter meetings, and important news that affects you regardless of where you work or what you do at MCPS.
Transportation
Reminder to all Transportation members: there is a Chapter meeting May 11th at Richard Montgomery HS. from 6:00pm-7:30pm. Do you know that working together as a "UNION" we can achieve more? Do you know how the Unions are able to get people elected? ex: "OBAMA". Do you know how bad Today's Budget is and what we can do as Union members? Want to hear some solutions? Come to your Transportation Chapter Meeting on May 11th.
Good news for bus drivers and students at bus stops, after almost 3 years Dr. Jerry Weiss has been able to get 40 cameras that can be mounted on the outside of the buses by the stop signs, the Bad news is anyone who passes the stopped bus when the stop sign is open can receive a stiff fine ($$) and possible points as well.
Paraeducators
**Please see this weeks article entitled "MCPS Offers Permanent Employees Ways to Advance Their Education."
Media & Technology
Our two chapter meetings are done for this year (thanks to Northwood and Northwest HS Media Centers for their hospitality), but it’s not too soon to think about next school year. Do you have a topic or a brilliant idea for one of our meetings? It can be a mini-training session, a focus group or a workshop, or even just a friendly conversation about a subject or an issue of concern to you.
Email Jean Sherer via Outlook and let her know your ideas. If you would like to host our chapter meeting in your media center, great! Let Jean know and we can work out the details. Thanks for your involvement in our chapter and our union!
