Direct Care Professionals

Joseph survey2I’m Joseph Hallowell and I’m a residential counselor at Community Services for Adults and Children (CSAAC) in Montgomery County, Maryland. I understand why many direct care providers in our industry are finding it hard to provide the kind of care our clients deserve.
Not enough funding goes to support providers like us, resulting in understaffing and high turnover that compromises the services our clients receive. Now, we are in the midst of an unprecedented funding crisis that could make matters worse for providers and clients. Already, $24 million has been slashed from Maryland’s Developmental Disabilities Administration in the most recent cuts alone.

That’s why direct care professionals are coming together to try to maintain the funding we need. By standing together we can win better funding, improve services, and make this a profession that can support a family. Please take a moment TODAY to fill out the survey below.

Hosting a meeting with other direct care providers in my home.
Attending a meeting with elected officials to advocate more funding and service improvements.
Visiting Annapolis to lobby for funding and improvements for my clients.
