Colin Smith and Steph Mulvey, two employees at American Bridge who supported forming the union, issued the following statement:

We would like to take a moment to share some exciting news: we are thrilled to announce we will be joining SEIU Local 500. We are currently in a time in which the right has been increasing their attacks on anyone that stands against them, especially workers, ranging from state houses all the way to the Supreme Court. We are proud to be able to show our solidarity with a growing movement of committed professionals forming and joining unions.

It is very encouraging to see a progressive organization like American Bridge live up to its core values by recognizing the important role collective bargaining plays in defending the rights of workers everywhere. We would like to offer a special thanks to our President Bradley Beychok, for taking the organization of this union with the gravitas it deserves. We look forward to an amiable relationship between management and the union to ensure that the needs of all staff at American Bridge are met.

American Bridge is at the tip of the spear in the effort to stop the destructive policies of the current administration, and holding them accountable for their actions. By unionizing with SEIU we have made a commitment in that fight to also treat all workers with the basic dignity and respect we are all entitled to. This will serve to improve the morale of the organization and organizations like it. As we all continue to do what is necessary to tackle deceit, bigotry, and destructive policies of the Republican Party and those who follow them.
