Oriole Saah

 Hello, SEIU family!

This past spring, 522 of you voted and I was elected Treasurer of Local 500. Unfortunately, I campaigned using accepted past practices.  My opponent and the Election Committee decided that these accepted past practices now violate the rules, so we’re re-running the election.

I am asking for your vote once more so I can continue the work I’ve already begun on your behalf.

My priorities as Treasurer remain clear:

●     Manage our finances responsibly and transparently

●     Ensure compliance with Department of Labor and IRS requirements

●     Safeguard the fiscal health and future of our union

●     Make sure the voices of all members—across all employers and job types—are considered in Executive Board decisions

Key (but not all) accomplishments as Treasurer:

●     Authored the SEIU Local 500 Expense Policy, adopted by the Executive Board, to bring greater accountability to spending and budgets

●     Helped develop policy on filling Executive Board vacancies, ensuring fairness and consistency

●     Participated in full MCPS contract bargaining—and I’m ready to do so again

Experience that works for you:

●     Treasurer (two terms)

●     VP of Media & Technology and Co-Chair of the Labor Management Committee

●     Elected SEIU Representative

●     Member, Media & Technology LMC

●     Three terms as Montgomery County Council of PTAs Treasurer

●     Member of MCCPTA Financial Review Committee who caught and prosecuted embezzlement from MCCPTA

●     Spend my free time scrapbooking and playing board games with friends

My background:

●     24 years with MCPS, currently IT System Specialist at Wheaton High School (began as a Help Desk Specialist)

●     Master’s in Nonprofit Management (University of Maryland Global Campus)

●     Bachelor’s in English Language and Literature (University of Maryland, College Park)

●     My husband, Ron, and I are the proud parents of an Albert Einstein High School Senior and accomplished musician.

●     We enjoy our family weekend time, our cat included, away in Great Cacapon near Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.

Why vote for me again?

I’ve already shown I can do this job—and you showed your trust by electing me again in May. With your vote, I’ll keep working to protect our union’s finances, strengthen accountability, and make sure every member’s voice matters.

Let’s finish what we started—stronger together
